Oil companies are all set to initiate another round of inspection to weed out consumers who possess LPG connection in more than one company. The exercise is aimed at pruning the number of consumers who will be entitled to subsidised LPG cylinders when the cash transfer scheme becomes operational on June 1.

Advertisements urging consumers having multiple gas connections in different companies to surrender excess ones will soon be released in the media. "We are tying up with the National Informatics Centre to detect multiple gas connections in different oil companies in the state. We have already weeded out multiple connections that a consumer has in a single oil company," an official said. It was also decided that those consumers who have piped gas supply should surrender their LPG cylinders.
